Common Areas Open to Guests
We are happy to see guests make themselves at home.
While the property is modest, we have a fair amount of living space to share with guests. As mentioned, if you have friends staying nearby, you are welcome to invite them here to visit.
The Screened Porch
The screened porch, facing the scent garden and fountain, is where breakfasts and cocktail hours snacks are served.
Welcome beverages and cocktail-hour snacks are served on the screened porch, which is always available for guest use. This is a very comfortable spot for conversation, napping, or just listening to the birds (and possibly the frogs), watching for hummingbirds, watching the butterflies and enjoying the flowers. The chaise has already made a big hit with guests. You might like to sit here late at night as well, light a candle or two and just enjoy the country air.
The Living Room
The living room offers air-conditioned comfort.
The living room is available for guest use any time, for talking, reading, watching tv, or playing games. There is a selection of games and a game table table. There is also a computer station with highspeed internet access.
In spring and fall, when nights are cool, enjoy evenings in front of the fireplace.
The house is decorated throughout with original art, and with few exceptions it is the work of Geneva Patterson (mother of the innkeeper). You can see more of her work online at http://gpatterson.com/. A selection of unframed watercolors is available for sale at our Gift Rack.
The North Patio and Garden Swings
Relax outdoors.
The gravel patio has outdoor rockers and furniture. It is shaded by a beautiful river birch tree and in summer is scented by the bordering viburnum and tuberoses. Here, facing the entry drive, you can relax and keep an eye out when you are waiting for other friends to arrive or for someone to pick you up. On summer evenings, with candles lit, it is a cozy and private corner to enjoy.
